Hello Friends!
As you may know by now, we’re on our honeymoon in Europe! We’ve been to Ireland…

Scotland…

And now we’re in England in the Lake District. . .

I’m typing this on Mark’s iPhone, so hopefully everything shows up well and the photos are not too big. Anyhoo, the plane ride was the biggest plastic shock we’ve had. It’s been several years since I’ve eaten on a plane, and everything was in plastic. EVERYTHING! We brought our own utensils and snacks, but it wasn’t enough for the 8 hour flight. We’re not into starving ourselves, so we ate it.

Apart from the flight, we’ve been pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to be green here. In the UK, almost every toilet we’ve seen has been low flow. Recycling bins are available and clearly marked in the towns, and all the products we’ve seen are very clearly marked. I even saw one today that said, “not currently recycled.” Very helpful.

Most people dry their laundry on washing lines outside. I was telling Mark that if it’s so popular here where it rains all the time, surely everyone in Texas could do this easily. One downside is that some clothes and towels get crunchy or wrinkly when dried outside, but I wonder if that could be solved with a quick fluff in the dryer. Hmm. My mom is English and wanted to put a line up when I was little, but I begged her not to because I was embarrassed that we would be the only people on our block with one. Now I feel differently about that.

Okay, my honey is ready to go for a walk through the mountains, so I’m saying so long for now!

Love,
Melanie

PS. Not to worry, I’ve been able to find lots of plastic free chocolate here too! ;)

Thanks for coming over to visit my blog. One way to keep the stiffness away, especially if you're drying them while you're home all day, is to take them down when they're still the teenyest bit damp. Like, they still feel cool to the touch, but they aren't dripping or wet anymore. :) Lovely pictures <3 Europe is so beautiful.

I LOVE having a clothesline! It is absolutely the best way to dry your sheets. Also, if you have any stained whites, drying them in the sunshine will brighten your clothes. It's so nice to dry things outside in the summer. When I don't run the dryer in the house, then the air conditioner isn't working overtime to compensate for the heat gain caused by it. And yes, a quick fluff in the dryer for your towels and jeans will solve the crunchies.
