Shaving with less plastic

My shaving routine has gone from nothing special to more of a luxury spa experience. I love how once again our no-new-plastic project has enhanced my quality of life! For years I’ve used the same Gillette Mach 3 Razor. Since I’ve had a full beard for many years and a goatee for about the last year, I have used a lot less of the disposable razor heads than the men who shave their whole face and neck. No Shampoo, No Conditioner, No Products - OH MY!

My long babbling introduction: Today I’m going to share the results of an experiment I’ve been conducting for a few months now.  Most hair products (shampoo, conditioner, mousse, etc) come in plastic.  So, I began researching other options.  I read about shampoo bars, using castile soap, and using baking soda and vinegar.  I also read about wearing dreadlocks, but that is not the look for me. Hello Everyone! I have to begin by telling you I have the most wonderful man in the world. We’ve been working outside all day today, and when we got home I jumped in the shower. When I got out, my wonderful man had made our bed, tidied our room, and had a fresh glass of ice water waiting for me on my bedside table. So wonderful You know what’s even more wonderful? Yesterday, Mark and I were running lots of errands and suddenly became very hungry. I’m sure you know how that goes. Well, we decided to stop at Einstein Bros Bagels. At first, I was thinking of just getting a bagel to carry me over until I could get some real food. Then, Mark and I saw that they had some yummy sandwiches. A Kindred Spirit: Beth Terry, the fake plastic fish lady

Yesterday Melanie shared with me Beth Terry’s blog, FakePlasticFish.com. At first I thought, darn this was supposed to be our unique project, but then I realized, wait that’s awesome, someone else doing a great job to change her personal habits and raise awareness at the same time.
