Jen recently made the following comment on our last Kitty Cosmo post, Kitty Cosmo: Chapter 5 Part 2… And then what happened? Kitty Cosmo: Chapter 5 Part 2

As you read in the last post, our small hole insert method didn’t work for our kitty Cosmo. She just stopped going to the bathroom. At the 24 hour mark, I decided to remove the insert and come up with another plan. Cosmo made a beeline to the toilet then, and we were all relieved (ha!). We kept everything the same for a couple of days, and then I inserted a piece of the old insert to block off an inch of the back of the pan so she has a smaller area to sit in. Kitty Cosmo: Chapter 4

Kitty Cosmo has advanced yet another step toward using the toilet!!!  The litter pan is in the toilet and she has been using it without complaint for several days.  We’re so so proud of her!!  Here’s the new setup: First, we tied elastic tightly around the lid and tank.  This is a safety precaution in case kitty Cosmo hits the lid while trying to use the toilet.  I don’t want it to fall on her.  I saw a video of a cat jumping to the seat from the tank, the cat accidentally caught the lid on the way down, the [Continue Reading...]

Are you ready for the latest update on how kitty Cosmo’s toilet training is going?  One day last week, in an act of cunning and James Bond-ish skill, Mark and I secretly hid kitty’s old litter box in the storage closet of our patio and left only the intermediate box in the bathroom.  Then, I sat at my desk (which has a view of the bathroom down the hall if I lean back in my chair), and waited for her to discover the changes. Am I destined to become an Amazon woman?

It’s day 2 of our Year of No New Plastic, and the only time I’ve been scared about the consequences of this experience so far was yesterday when I realized all razors (that I know of) are made with plastic.  I mentally panicked last night when I came to this realization.  I immediately thought, maybe I can just buy a lot before we start our No New Plastic project.  That’s when I realized we were already twelve hours into it.  I wondered if this would be the one area I would cheat in, even though I cringed at the thought.
